Since Andy Wirth was chosen as president and CEO in 2010 he has worked tirelessly to make the Squaw Valley Ski Resort the premier Ski Resort in the Lake Tahoe region. Squaw Valley is located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and since merging with Alpine Meadows Ski Resort it offers over 6,000 skiable acres and the beautiful resort is at 9,050 ft above sea level.
Don’t like skiing? No problem, tourists also have access to a pool, roller skating, dining, shopping and high altitude disc golf so there is something for the entire family to enjoy. For all you guys that don’t like the winter and decide to hibernate Squaw Valley is also host to a variety of events in the summer such as concerts and food or wine tastings.
That’s just the business side of Mr. Andy Wirth, he is quite the philanthropist as well. Since a near fatal skydiving accident back in October of 2013 Wirth helped found an Ironman team called Wounded Warrior Support which helps raise money for the Navy SEAL foundation so they can “provide immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare Community and its families”.
He also does a lot of philanthropic and volunteer work for the Lake Tahoe Region as well such as being a Volunteer Firefighter and is on numerous boards of directors.
After years of helping get more air traffic to the Lake Tahoe region earlier this year on January 12, 2016 Wirth was elected Chairman of Reno-Tahoe Regional Air Service Corporation and will use his new position to get even more air service to the area.
Not enough can be said about the heart of Andy Wirth. He gives everything he can to the area he calls home and wants nothing but the best for it. If only we were all like that.
